Visitors to Nepal usually stop also in the capital Kathmandu, respectively in the vast Kathmandu valley (1 320 m asl), which is the most populated part of Nepal. A lot of tourists enjoying beautiful Himalayan treks consider Kathmandu with its fumes and heavy traffic only as a necessary evil, but there are a lot of interesting things to see as well. There are interesting Nepalese sights mainly in three historic centers – at Durbar Square in Bhaktapur, Patan and Kathmandu and amazing temples of Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath and Boudhanath. On the edges of the basin are well known towns in the hills such as Nagarkot or Dhulikel with an amazing view of the ridge of the Himalayas.
