One of the most important Baroque buildings in Germany
The Frauenkirche (Church of the Virgin Mary) is an Evangelical Lutheran church in Dresden, Germany. It is one of the symbols of the Saxon metropolis. The dome of the church, called die Steinerne Glocke or stone bell, is one of the largest north of the Alps. It weighs about 12,000 tons and has an inner diameter of 26.15 meters. The building with a total height of 91.23 m, a width of 41.96 m and a length of 50.02 m is made of Saxon sandstone. For II. During World War II, the church was completely destroyed, its reconstruction began only in 1994. It was consecrated again in 2005.
