East of Holice, about 4.5 km along the road I / 36, in Veliny there is a timbered church, a masterpiece of folk architecture. There is also a wooden bell tower, which has an octagonal floor plan. A rarity is a unique prop – the so-called „Josephine“ coffin from the 80s of the 18th century. At that time, due to the saving of wood for coffins, especially in the case of more numerous deaths during epidemics, the dead were dropped into the grave by opening the bottom of the coffin. However, this method of burial was used only briefly due to the great resistance of the inhabitants (the coffin is now stored in the sacristy).
