Place Ankara

Ankara with almost five million inhabitants, is located practically in the center of Turkey, gained significance only when Mustafa Kemal designated it the capital of the country. In the center of the town lies a large fortress. The surrounding old part is gradually disappearing and modern towers take up the place. The greatest monument here is the mausoleum of Ataturk and the huge Kocatepe Mosque.
