There are nice „pocket“ dunes Tinfou on the way between Zagora and the end of the road near the algerian border in Mhamid. At first glance, it almost seems as if this was not the work of nature, but of man. All around is a desolate rocky plain and right in the middle a huge pile of sand.

On the way to the top of the dune

Desert vegetation growing directly out of the sand dune is almost a miracle of nature.

Top of the dune

The ascent to the dune is more challenging than it first seems. Sinking into the sand is quite exhausting. The main thing is not to make a mistake and not to set off for the ascent in sandals. The sand is very hot already in the morning and you can burn your feet easily.

Wasteland

The horizon close table mountains with vertical sides. Berbers riding tourists on camels have their homes directly under the dune.

View of the road

The dune is located just off the main road. In addition, it is also possible to go a little further on a stony plain. Right next to the road is a small hotel. You should consider staying here, since dunes are the most beautiful at sunrise and sunset.

Lone camel under the dune

Tourism is not so large here as for example at the most famous moroccan dunes of Erg Chebbi, but even so there is a chance to ride a camel around the dune.
