Karlovy Vary - Mill Colonnade

Today's pseudo-Renaissance stone colonnade was built in the years 1871 – 1881 according to the project of the excellent Czech architect Josef Zítek. The ceremonial opening of the Mill Colonnade took place as part of the beginning of the spa season on June 5, 1881. The attic of the colonnade is complemented by twelve sandstone allegorical sculptures by sculptors Alfred Schreiber and Karel Wilfert, representing the individual months of the year.

The largest Karlovy Vary colonnade covers a total of five mineral springs.

Mill spring, Rusalka spring, Prince Václav spring, Libuše spring and Skalní spring.

Detail of the promenade hall using the Corinthian order with a total of 124 columns. The hall is topped by a coffered ceiling. The ceiling carries a large upper viewing promenade terrace.
