Vápeč (956 m above sea level) is a Slovak mountain in Strážovské vrchy. It lies east of the village Horná Poruba. The hill is also a national nature reserve.

3x on Vápeč

We have climbed Vápeč three times, each time at different times and under different conditions, but always on the same route from the village of Horná Poruba (405 m above sea level) along the blue tourist sign, which connects with the red sign after 3/4 hour. Both together lead to the saddle Palúch (900 m above sea level) and from there it is a short distance to the top of Vápeč (956 m above sea level). The ascent lasted us even after dark with headlights about 1:30 am. The hike is not difficult.

The first output

The first visit to the top of Vápeč with headlights, darkness and frost. January 2016, temperature about –11 and feel –30.
