Directly from Ushuaia you can go on a rather interesting hike to the mountains – to the rest of the Martial Glacier. An interesting route through the Partagonian forest awaits you, as well as nice views of the mountains and the city. Expect the weather to change here almost every minute. The sun may shine for a while while it snows.

View of Ushuaia

On foot, head in the direction of the cable car – teleferico. You may be surprised by the bustle of the local streets. Where do people keep going, when they can basically only move around this city :-). One of the bonuses of this tour is the beautiful views of the city and the Beagle Channel.

Camino through the Patagonian forest

In places where the winding road disconnects from the city towards the ski center, you can turn onto a path through the forest, which is worth it.

Patagonian forest

Traveling through the forest is an experience. The trees are crooked, overgrown with mushrooms and lichen. I cross the route through small gorges, where without bridges it would be a big problem to get to the other side.

Impenetrable forest

Compared to our Central European, mostly easily permeable forests, the Patagonian forests look like an impenetrable forest.

Patagonian streams

The last character of the local forest is the high frequency of streams and rivers. Thanks to the large amount of precipitation and the local basement, you will hit the water almost all the time.

Road to the Martial Glacier

From the forest you go near the parking lot at the ski resort, at about 330m above sea level. From here, significantly more people will go with you. The weather here is really fickle.

Mountains above Ushuaia

The path first leads comfortably through the valley, but then a regular ascent along a mountain slope awaits you. Here it is better to have a good mountain range with a gorache and not like local Argentine tourists with sneakers – water, snow are here at every turn. There is a real alpine terrain at about 700 meters above sea level. From the glacier itself, however, there are only extra remains hidden under the snow.

Under the mountains

On the way back you can enjoy these thousand meters high mountains.

End of the world

Back, it's probably faster to take the road. The views of the end of the world are beautiful. The tour is definitely worth it, mainly because you don't have to deal with any traffic and you will get there beautifully :-)
