From Canberry you can go on some nice walks. Probably the most famous of these is Mount Ainslie, located in the nature reserve of the same name, which is also part of Canberra Nature Park. At the top is the famous Marion Mahona Griffin Lookout with perhaps the most famous view of Canberra

Vegetation of the nature park

The walk starts at the Australian War Memorial, which is one of the most famous buildings in all of Canberra and is definitely worth a visit. From here, it is only about 2.5 km and 250 meters above sea level to the top of Mount Ainslie. The road also leads to the top, but it is certainly more interesting to get acquainted with the local flora and fauna. The road leads through the local bushes with eucalyptus trees and you hardly want to believe that you are on the edge of the capital.

Kangaroos!

The biggest experience of this walk are kangaroos (of course for non-Australian ones), who often walk along the hiking trail

Kangaroos and spider

With the beginning of the early evening, kangaroos also increase. You can get to them relatively close, they are not very timid. If you get too close they will stand up and be taller than you. Of course you are in Australia, so it is not a problem to find a lot of spiders here

Sunset over Black Mountain Tower

The dominant feature of the opposite Black Mountain hill with a 195 meter high TV tower can also be seen nicely. There are several viewpoints on the tower, so it is definitely worth a visit.
