Nice side trip from Ngawal is a short hike to the village of ghosts Bhardoche lying on smaller upland plain and an ascent from it to the outlook hill.

View of Ngawal

During the last few minutes of the way from Ghyar to Ngawal you make the best overview of possible trips around the village. The best one is from Ngawals gompa along the flags up to the ridge. A second one, about which we write here now, is a rocky hill ( 4120 m asl ) which attracts with its chorten on the top. Horizon is dominated by glaciated Chullu.

In Ngawal

You can see in Ngawal amazing chorten serving at the same time as a source of water or beautiful mani walls.

Football above Ngawal

After passing through the village you get to a flat plain, where yaks graze and locals play football. Just behind the playing field is steep but fortunately not very high cliff, on which lies the upland plain and small village of ghosts – Bhardoche. Our outlook hill is already in front of us.

The first outlook

After the ascend to the cliff appears village Bhardoche, which is a cluster of several uninhabited buildings. You need to weave through the walls here and find a path leading up the hill. In just a half hour from the football field it is possible to admire the views at the first small outlook point.

View of Annapurna II.

There are nice views of Annapurna II. during the ascend.

View of the ascent path

With increasing meters the view of the whole ascend path opens. Ngawal seems to be already pretty far on the horizon and no one would say that the greenest stain with a big tent is a football pitch. The newly built monastery building on a desolate plain plateau is quite showy. Unfortunately it comes out that this ascend is far better early in the morning (at sunrise) than during the sunset, when is the vast majority of the ridge in a large backlit.

Pisang peak from the top

After an hour and a half from Ngawal and about 500 altitude meters higher you are finally standing on the top of a hill with a nice view of the already remote Pisang peak.

Annapurna II. from the top

Massif of Annapurna II. towers over the area that is slowly being veiled into the evening twilight.

Damodar

The view to northwest direction is already to a slightly different landscape – to arid parts of the Damodar Himalayas which is similar to Tibet rather than Nepal.
