A trip to the metropolis of South Bohemia
České Budějovice has almost one hundred thousand inhabitants and is thus the largest city in South Bohemia. The city is famous for its Budvar beer and the beautiful square of Přemysl Otakar II, which is one of the largest in the Czech Republic. The most important monuments can be found in its vicinity
Samson's Fountain in České Budějovice
We will start a walk around the city on the square of Přemysl Otakar II. in the center of which stands the beautiful Samson's Fountain – simply the center of the city
City Hall in České Budějovice
One of the biggest monuments of České Budějovice is the majestic Baroque town hall from the 18th century in the southwest corner of the square.
Bee Palace
The Včela Palace, built in the southeast corner of the square, competes with the town hall for the most beautiful building in České Budějovice.
Church of St. Anny
From the square we set off on a circuit through the center. We set off along Charles IV Street. After a while there is a view of the smaller church of St. Anny
Episcopal grammar school
We will turn right into Kněžská Street and after a while we will pass the huge building of the Bishop's Grammar School
South Bohemian Museum in České Budějovice
Just across the street is the even more monumental building of the South Bohemian Museum. For those who want to significantly extend the tour of České Budějovice, we recommend a visit.
Along Malše
The road will take us to Malša with a view of the Golden Bridge and the Palace of Justice. From the Golden Bridge you can see through the street again to the very center
Iron Maiden
100 meters further is another picturesque corner of the city – the Iron Bridge and the Iron Maiden Tower. We are only a short distance from the confluence of the Vltava and Malší
City walls in České Budějovice
Zátkovo nábřeží turns north here and leads around the remains of the city walls
West end of the center
The walk still leads us around the water at the western end of the historic center of České Budějovice. We pass the Elephant Gate, the Round Bastion and the Dominican Monastery. Nice thanks to the surrounding trees is the alcove chapel of St. Jan Nepomucký. Finally, the interesting hotel Budweis will appear in front of us
Mlýnská street in České Budějovice
At the hotel, don't forget to turn to see Mlýnská Street, which is probably the most picturesque in České Budějovice.

Walk along the street to the most beautiful remnant of the former fortifications of České Budějovice – Rabenštejn Tower
Solnice
We're coming back. We reach Piarist Square, where the famous Solnice building is located
Piaristická street
On the square of Přemysl Otakar II. we return via Piaristická street. Looking back, you can see the tower of the monastery
The Black Tower and the Cathedral of St. Nicholas
We will end this basic circuit through the historical center of České Budějovice at the dominant feature of the city – the Black Tower and next to the standing Cathedral of St. Nicholas. It is definitely worth climbing the tower and see Budějovice nicely from the top
