Place Orava Castle

Orava Castle is a castle in Slovakia in the village of Oravský Podzámok. It is a significant dominant of the Orava region, it is one of the most important monuments of castle architecture in Slovakia. The castle, protected as a national cultural monument, is open to the public daily from May to March. The upper castle consists of the Citadel – the oldest part of the castle, which was built in the 13th century and served to defend the castle. The lower castle consists of the Turz Palace, the Chapel of St. Michael, the western and eastern bastions, the rectory building and the defense system consisting of the first, second and third castle gates.
