The park is named after the Luangwa River, which forms part of the reservation border. Before the area was declared a national park, there was a private game reserve of the President of Zambia. There are not many accommodation options in the park and in addition, the existing lodges are only for a few people. Which is a huge advantage, but on the other hand, the price also corresponds.
