The most beautiful part of the Podtrosec
One of the most beautiful parts of the Czech Paradise is Podtrosecké valley (“Valley under Trosky”) – a combination of sandstone towers and local ponds are doing here really charming hideaways. Additionally, you can combine this walk with a visit to the beautiful ruins and a symbol of the Czech Paradise – Trosky (“The Ruins”). If you do not have much time or do not want to walk around the whole Podtrosecké Valley (10.5 km), you can make this short walk around the Věžický pond, where are the most beautiful sceneries.
Romantic hideaways
For most hikers is the start at the parking lot at the crossroads of Věžický pond on the road from Libošovice and Hrubá Skála, which is right next to the pond and first outlooks of the sandstone towers protruding directly from the water. Several walking and cycling routes also lead here, so you will meet here a lot of people in the main season.
Early evening at Věžák (“High-rise”)
The best time to visit, however if you did not come here for a swim in the summer, is from late afternoon until sunset, when are the rocks in best light and there are not many people.
Wilderness on the south side of the pond
North side of the pond, along which the tourist route leads, is picturesque with a few cottages, meadows and one small beach for swimming. But the southern side is a wilderness full of forests and rocks. No official trail leads there, but a couple of small footpaths do so. So you can also climb on the rocks and enjoy views of the lake from a different perspective.
Early evening romance
The pond has thanks to its location in a relatively narrow valley long elongated shape. Some of protected animals live here, about which you will be informed in local educative trail. In the heat of summer the tourists or cyclists appreciate spring Jordánka at the eastern end of the pond with cold drinking water.
Věžák
After a kilometer and a half you come to another crossroad, where turns the cyklo-route to Troskovice. Or you can go on along the tourist’s path through Podtrosecké valley to the pond Vidlák where a restaurant is.
The outlook of Věžák
Very alternative possible route back is the one leading among the rock towers along the southern side. It is unmarked path, where it is necessary to crawl through relatively impenetrable terrain. So it is completely different path than the one on the northern side of the pond.
Chalets near Věžák
There are two nice outlooks of the pond and surrounding buildings on this alternative way back.
From the rock tower
The outlooks are very nice and worth the effort.
End of the path
"Back“ path ends at the stream effluent from the pond, from where you go along the road back to the parking lot.
