Wadi Dayqah Dam is one of the newest attractions in Oman. It was opened only in 2012 and became the largest Omani dam. It is freely accessible and thanks to the park between the two dikes it is also very popular with the locals.

Road just in front of the dam

You can reach the dam after about a 20-kilometer drive from the Queyrat motorway exit. The last hundreds of meters you drive directly opposite the mountains through a green alley

Classic view of the dam

The road climbs to the edge of the dam and immediately it pays to stop in the first parking lot and go to the longer but lower dam. Only a minimum of people walk here, but the views of the flooded rocks are definitely worth it

Picnic area directly below the dam

Directly below the dam there is another picnic area, but it is quite in need of visitors

View from the side dam

The side dam is over 300 meters long, so it's such a mini walk with nice views of the dam.

Panorama of the side dam

At the top of the dam is both a road that is not allowed to drive, and a sidewalk, if only by chance someone drove

Wadi Dayqah Dam

The only place where we did not have the typical Omani weather with the sun and azure sky, but again it had such an interesting atmosphere

Viewpoint at the tower

After a walk on the side embankment, we drive a little further – the parking lot at the park is hopelessly full, but you can drive a little higher, from where there is also a nice view of the surroundings.

View of the park

The local park is very popular with locals and goes here for evening picnics from a great distance. The tower serves is actually just a built-in staircase connecting the park and the upper parking lot.

View of the main dam

The main dam is shorter, but much higher than the secondary one. It dams the original riverbed

An oasis under the dam

There is a large oasis under the dam. With more time, it would probably be worth a visit

View of the dam from the park

We descend to the park, from where there is probably the most classic view of the dam

Dam from the park

What is probably the most beautiful about this dam is its location right between the jagged mountain peaks

View from the edge of the dam

The last walk leads us along the edge of the main dam overlooking the valley of the Dayqah River

Overflow

It does not seem that the classic overflow into water would ever be used here.
