Geirangerfjord is known mainly for its beautiful nature and unique winding roads steeply descending or rising to a dizzying height above the fjord. That is why it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Natural Heritage List in 2005. We get to it by the Way of the Eagles – a route that winds along winding serpentines on mountain slopes. The surrounding steep hills are decorated with cascading waterfalls.

10th - 11th day

Geirangerfjord

After another almost whole day spent in the car, we really can't wait for our look-out camp Vinja, which seems to be the most acceptable of all camps in terms of price (460Kr / 2 nights) and appearance. He really didn't disappoint. It is clean, nice, well equipped with sanitary facilities and on the side of the rock with the Kleivafossen waterfall. It is very noisy, but we can assure you that you will still fall asleep as if it throws you into the water. As soon as we settle down, we go for a walk to the city center. We come across many cafes, restaurants and souvenir shops. We have a look of a few beautiful souvenirs, but perhaps we are most happy with the blue T-shirts with the cartoon reindeer. We return to the camp and it is already clear that the night will be very cold, now it is estimated at about 10 ° C. The next morning we are very frozen from the night and so we appreciate waking up in the morning in the beautiful warm sun. After breakfast we set off about 3 km from here to the Flydalsjuvet viewpoint, from which we should have the most beautiful photos from the whole Geirangerfjord. Unfortunately, we still couldn't find the right place we read about on the internet, so Míra climbed a rock and almost risked his life just to find the right place. I thought I was going crazy with him! In search of the right place, a young man from India joined us and looked for the same place as us. After a while, finding out how good we are guides and navigators, he preferred to disconnect from our expedition and start asking Japanese tourists. He didn't walk anyway. In the end, we accidentally find the place on the edge of the rock, we take a few photos and enjoy the beautiful view. Unfortunately, it's time to return to the campsite and plan the next destination of our trip, which will be the Jostedalsbreen mainland glacier. '

Troll

Troll as a symbol of Norway and Norse mythology in general. We met this in front of the building with souvenirs.
