Přerov nad Labem is a village in the district of Nymburk. Archaeological finds document the settlement of the village more than 7000 years ago. On Přerovská hůra near the town, the existence of a high fortified fortified settlement was proved by means of aerial archeology. The first written mention of Přerov is more than 1000 years old. The village is known mainly for the local open-air museum of folk architecture. Among other things, we will find a beautiful castle or a museum of motorcycles.

Renaissance castle

The castle was created by rebuilding the original water fortress in the 14th century. Today we can see the Renaissance appearance of the castle with sgraffito decoration.

Remains of ramparts

Remains of Renaissance ramparts and bastions are also preserved near the chateau. The interiors of the chateau are inaccessible – the chateau belongs to Czech Radio. However, a petition is underway to save Přerov Castle. The castle interiors retain original Gothic features and Renaissance fireplaces.

Open-air museum

The local open-air museum of folk buildings, or the Elbe Ethnographic Museum, was established at the end of the 19th century as the 4th open-air museum in Europe. We can see a large number of folk buildings that were „moved“ from the surrounding villages, including the interiors.

Interiors

Most of the buildings are accessible, so we have a unique opportunity to see their interiors, including period furniture and all equipment. During the year, various thematic exhibitions take place here (eg Easter, etc.).
