The age of this mine is estimated at 7,000 years, when wooden stairs from the Bronze Age were discovered here. The mine has a total of 65 km of track, of which another 22.5 km on foot. There are 20 floors. There are two mining slides in the tour. The second longest in Europe measures 65 meters and can reach speeds of up to 40 km / h. During the tour, you will learn about the formation of this mass of salt due to the wrinkling of the mainland. In recent times, such as World War II, images of incalculable value have been hidden here.

I first visited this mine in 2001 and a lot has changed since then. The easiest way to get up is by cable car, the way up is 8 Euro. At the Rudolfsturm restaurant there is a Skywalk viewpoint, which is 350 meters above the ground and there is a view of the lake with Hallstatt. From here we walk to the entrance hall. Here you can buy a ticket or even make a reservation. Each mine has a different price. Hallstatt is worth 34 Euro. After payment, we take out the work rags and wait for the guide. From here you go to the Christina mine. Earlier, the tour started with a train, but this is not the case and we are going their own way. The first thing that catches your eye on the tour is the 7 large salt crystals, then the first slide begins. Subsequently, it's all about mining and mining. This is followed by a second 65 meter long slide. After that, there is a talk about salt formation here. The tour then ends with a recent discovery. I will not reveal what is going on. The return journey is about 5 minutes by mining train

It all starts with the cable car

The cable car runs directly from Hallstatt every 5 – 10 minutes
