Its history is 5,000 years old thanks to findings from the Bronze Age. Even in the 19th century, the village could only be reached by boat. The individual houses are crammed side by side and some alleys lead through the houses. Hallstatt is one of the most visited places in Austria. It is often on the main page of guides, internet search engines and postcards. You can get to the village by car, bus, but also by train, where you need to use the boat ferry. The village lies on Lake Hallstatt surrounded by mountains. Extreme attendance is to be expected. Especially Asian nationalities. Accommodation is possible here in various hotels or in a camp. The village is quite stretched and it takes 2 hours from one end to the other. We start from the south on the shores of Lake Hallstatt, where we are lined with folk buildings. The closer we get to the square, the narrower the streets and the layered buildings. What is worth mentioning is the cable car that takes visitors to the Salt Chamber, but this is for another article. Along the way we meet many salt shops, souvenirs, restaurants and various treats. In the square lies the iconic Evangelical Parish Church of Hallstatt called Christuskirche. Above the square we can observe the waterfall Franz Josef Förderstollen Fate begins to rise to the parish of the Assumption Maria am Berg is the oldest church in Hallstatt and behind it is one of the most sought after places. This is the local ossuary. The cemetery is something special. The survivors are reportedly buried here. There are over 600 painted skulls in Constance. From here we go to the last place and that is the view of Hallstatt from where the introductory photo of this article is.
