On the hill above Mlýnský rybník, near the road connecting the cities of Lednice and Břeclav, stands an interesting building in the Empire style. This landmark is the temple of the sun god – Apollo.

Classical building

The monumental classicist building was built in the years 1817 – 1819. A distinctive feature of the building is eight Doric columns. Behind the columned colonnade is a relief with a mythological scene of the god Apollo on a solar chariot pulled by a four-wheeled team.

Observation terrace

The top of the temple is formed by a terrace with a classicist railing, which is reached by a spiral wooden staircase. The edge of the terrace is decorated with sculptures symbolizing the four seasons.

View

The viewing terrace at the top of the building is accessible all year round from 10:30 a.m. until sunset. Looking west, you can watch the sunset and overlook the entire system of ponds up to Hraniční zameček, which is less than five kilometers to the west.
