From Timang ( 2630 m asl ) renowned by parade sunsets over massif Manaslu you continue through woods to Thanchok and behind it the path already connects to the main route leading from the bottom via Danakyu. This approximately three-hour lasting trip from Timang via Koto to Chame is the most interesting for tourists mainly because they will finally, after several days of walking, see Annapurna for the first time. Even the village Chame at the end of this stage is worth seeing.

Behind Timang

The way from Timang to Thanchok leads on comfortable path along the contour line in around 300 altitude meters above the river. Most of the time through the forest, but there are sometimes nice views of the surrounding rocky landscape through the holes or meadows. People choose this path via Timang from two reasons: they want to have views of Manaslu or also because the lower path is quite often buried in landslides.

The first view of Annapurna II

The path leads you to a large upland meadows, but Thanchok lies beyond the small side valley. So you have to descent, cross the bridge and go again up. In Thanchok connects the lower path and you continue then through the forest, where the majestic spike of Annapurna II emerges every now and then. This beautiful view will accompany you almost up to Chame.

Koto and Annapurna II

After an hour and a half you reach Koto – an important path junction. Except for our path around Annapurnas turn here also the paths to Nar and Phu valleys, which is less frequently walked and until recently closed to tourists. If you do not intend to sleep here and continue further, it is definitely worth to stop here, have at least tea and admire the stunning views of the ridge.

Nameless pyramid

Nearly seven thousand meters high beautiful pyramid (6897 m asl) reminiscent of peruvian Alpamayo protrudes from the ridge. But unfortunately, it has no name.

Entry to Chame

From Koto it is very close to Chame. Chame is the administrative town of entire Manang, although it is smaller than village Manang further upstream. Right at the beginning you are welcomed by dozens of prayer wheels.
