Cruise to Navagio beach

As soon as you leave the port, there is a nice view of the highest mountains of Zakynthos, reaching just over 750 meters above sea level.

Right next to the first proper cliff you will pass you will see a number of emerging sea caves. Zakynthos is really rich in them.

Blue Cave is not only accessible by boat – the road leads to two windmills from where a footpath descends many steps down to the sea.

The Blue Cave itself is located on a small peninsula below the Skinari lighthouse. It usually stops here when sailing back.

Behind Cape Skinari is more than five kilometers of inaccessible deserted coast full of dark rocks. Large villas stand here and there on the otherwise desolate slopes. This is probably the least interesting part of the cruise.

Gradually, the coast becomes more attractive – white cliffs begin and around them beautiful greenery without human development. During the cruise you can see two small beaches directly below the cliff and a small island of Agios Andreas

Just before arriving at Navagio beach, the landscape is really impressive. The surrounding cliffs rise more than 200 meters above you

Finally, perhaps the most famous bay in the Mediterranean – Navagio or Shipwreck beach – will open

Navagio beach is really the most famous beach in Zakynthos, so count on the crowds in the high season. It pays to come here late in the afternoon – on the one hand, you will have a beautiful light and there will be fewer large boats.

On September 13, 2018, a huge rock block was released on Navagio beach and injured several tourists. It is probably not advisable to put a blanket directly on the rock, as elsewhere in the world, sometimes something falls out of it.

Sailing back is along the same route, but the repeated views are definitely not boring here.

A lighthouse on the Skinari Peninsula will warn you that you are approaching the Blue Cave

The last stop of this great trip is the Blue Cave – rock arches and small sea caves. Depending on the size of the ship, what you will be able to navigate here. As it is true that the cliffs are dark in the afternoon, here it is probably best to sail around noon, when the water has the right blue color.
