The Novohradské Mountains on the Czech territory are spread over an area of 162 km². The most sought-after places for tourists are Nové Hrady with the Terezín Valley, the Dobrá Voda Monastery and the oldest protected reserve in Europe – Žofín Forest, founded in 1838. The Novohradské Mountains have a total of 7 thousand meters high peaks on the Czech side.
