The Ammergau Alps belong to the relatively little-known group of the Northern Limestone Alps. This is also due to the fact that they are much lower than the nearby Wetterstein mountain range with the highest mountain in Germany. Most of the most famous views are also on the Zugspitze and its surroundings. The highest mountain of this mountain range is Daniel (2,340m).
