Chacaltaya is basically not very interesting mountain. Rather, it's just such a lackluster peak. What makes it interesting is the outlook from it of the surrounding glaciated giants and most importantly, that it is easily accessible five thousand meters high mountain as the small road leading to the mountain hut ends just a little more than a hundred vertical meters below the peak. Tourist often come here to see the place, where used to be the highest ski resort in the world once (before the glacier forever melted).
