Article Visit of Valparaiso

There is a great harbor, where tons of goods are constantly loaded and unloaded.

There are a lot of boats moving around the harbor and they will definitely impose you the atmosphere of old long-distance voyages.

Just climb steep streets a bit up the hill and you have the cargo port as the palm of your hand.

Most tourists do not arrive to Valparaiso because of its port, but mainly to see the winding streets leading to the nearby hills.

From the port leads up several main streets and a number of other side stairs, so that you can wander here for hours.

You will see here full range of quaint houses, such as this narrow block.

There are also a number houses studded with rusty corrugated sheets, so you may wonder whether you´re still in the „right“ quarter.

If you ascend high above the sea, a broad view will open. Unfortunately, there are increasingly more and more high-rise buildings and due to this fact are the picturesque corners disappearing with an increasing speed.

New high-rise buildings are really like a sore thumb among the original low little houses.

You will certainly see and use a great variety of historical elevators between the „floors“ of the town.

This lift, or rather small cableway takes people directly from the sea up to the high rock cliff. It daily saves a lot of vertical meters.

The official center of the town is, however, Sotomayor Square with the monument to the heroes.
