The only major attraction of town Villahermosa in state Tabasco is the museum park in the open-air – La Venta. You will see here giant Olmec heads and interesting altars. Coatimundis will sometimes be running around you. The ideal time to come here is early in the morning, in the opening hours. The entire park will then be practically just for you. Exhibited monuments are essentially the remnants carried off from La Venta (for Olmecs sacred town lost among marshes).

Monumento La Abuela

After you go through a small and not very interesting zoo, you get to educative sidewalk between individual monuments. La Abuela (Grandmother) peeks out at you first.

Monumento El Joven Guerrero

The first of the three giant heads follow – this one El Joven Guerrero (Young warrior) is not very nice, but it can entice you at least for the next ones.

Monumento El Viejo Guerrero

Nearby standing, more than two and a half meters high head of El Viejo Guerrero (Old Warrior) is considerably more sophisticated.

Altar 5

Outside the giant heads there are also very interesting altars. Altar 5 is one of the most interesting.

Coatimundi

Except for the animals trapped here in ZOO, you will see here lots of coatimundi migrating between different trashes in the park.

Altar 4 Triumfal

The most interesting and most monumental altar on this tour is Altar 4 Triumfal.

Cabeza del Guerrero

Almost at the end awaits you the most elaborate monumental head – Cabeza del Guerrero (Head of the Warrior). The human body is puny compared to this head.

Diosa Joven

An interesting statue is also Diosa Joven (Young Goddess).

The whole tour is very interesting; sculptures are discreetly placed in the local jungle. You will see here also nice butterflies, maybe also toucans and parrots. The only annoyance here is the mosquitoes. If your journey around Mexico leads through the north part of Tehuantepec neck, certainly consider to make a stop here.
