Waterfall famous for scenes in the movie Predator lying only about 20 km from the town of Palenque belong among the most beautiful ones in Mexico, although it is a bit overshadowed by the more interesting water cascades Aqua Azul a little bit further. Except for admiring the natural beauty and bathing under a waterfall, it is also interesting to walk along the path leading behind the waterfall to a small karst cave.

Cave creek

A small river is leaking out from the cave on the opposite side of the pool – up there you can get along the hiking path that leads behind the waterfall. But at least a headlamp is needed for more detailed cave exploration.

Behind the waterfall

It almost unbelievable how much space is hidden under the overhang behind the waterfall – but the path is slippery and water is dripping everywhere. So you need to pay careful attention not only to the camera but also to your own health.

The path behind the waterfall

The path continues further up to the cave, from where is clearly visible the whole area behind the waterfall.

The entrance to the cave

The entrance to the cave is extremely moist and the roots of trees are blowing everywhere. After a few meters everything is veiled into complete darkness and without light is further progress virtually impossible.
