Trek below Everest little differently and better
Trek over three passes (Renjo la, Cho la and Kongma la) leads you through more challenging, but very beautiful and far less crowded parts of Khumbu region. Also here is your destination Everest BC and the most beautiful mountain outlook point in the world Kala Patthar. As a bonus, you can also climb two more five thousand outlook Gokyo Ri and Chukhung Ri.If you are lucky, you will see several eight-thousand high mountains – not only Mount Everest and Lhotse, Cho Oyu and throne of the gods Makalu, but also one of the most beautiful mountains in the world Ama Dablam and a whole range of other high mountains.
1 to 4 day
Beginning of the trek
The first four days are basically the same for all treks in the area and you will walk along the shortest route of the trek to Everest View, i.e. by air from Kathmandu to Lukla, then walk to Namche Bazar, acclimatization in sherpa villages and the way to Thame. Just such a warm up for the passes to come.

Over Renjo la pass to Gokyo
At this stage of the trek waits for you the crossing of the first five thousand high pass Renjo la (5 412 m asl) /in maps is shown 50m less /. This way can be managed for two days from Thame over the pass to Goya, but it is definitely worthwhile to have an extra acclimatization day, or two with walks for example to the glacier Lunang. The crossing of the pass is long and grueling, especially the descent to Gokyo. Along the way there are two high-lying lakes and with a little luck you will have a nice view of Everest from the pass.

Gokyo Ri and other trips from Gokyo
It is worth to spend at least two days in Gokyo, maybe even more. The basic ascent is to the adjacent famous Gokyo Ri (5 366 m asl). People usually walk here during the sunrise, but if the weather is favorable, of course, far better is the sunset with red-colored Everest. Another, but less frequently walked trip is along Ngozumba glacier and the lakes lying around (Tonak Tsho, Ngozumba Tsho and Gyazumba Tsho) to very interesting outlook points Nameless Fangs and Knobby view.

Kala Patthar and Everest BC
Now awaits you walk from Dzhonghla along the beautiful outlook path to Lobuche (4 938 m asl), where you will join the basic route of the trek to BC Everest. From there you will continue in significantly denser tourist traffic up to Gorak Shep (5 180 m asl). Along the way, you'll admire a beautiful Pumori (7 165 m asl). If you still have energy and weather permits, set out in the afternoon for the sunset on Kala Patthar, which is the best on the entire trek. The next day, head to BC Everest and get back to Lobuche the same afternoon, where is the starting point to the third five thousand high pass on this trek – Kongma la.

Over Kongma la pass to Chhukhung
Now awaits you the third and final five thousand high pass Kongma la. The view from its top is also one of the best what you will see on this trek. Before you descend back to starting point of the trek, make a trip in the surroundings of Chhukhungu. You can choose from:
- Walk to lake Imja Tsho
- Ascent to the outlook hill Chhkhung Ri (5 550 m asl)
- If you have climbing ambitions and you have pre-arranged it, you can take use of the acquired acclimatization during the ascent to Island Peak (6 189 m asl)
- Another difficult possibility is to overcome the icy Amphulapcha pass and descent into the uninhabited and deserted valley of Hunku. There is a link to the Makalu trek and Mera peak trek

Back to Lukla
The journey from Chhukhung to Lukla can be done even in two days with overnight stay in Namche Bazar. But most tourists walk it longer in 3–4 days.
- Chhukhung – Dingboche – Pangboche – Tengboche (4 hours): descent from Chhukhung first freely descends to Dingboche, a village standing on a vast plain. There are quite a lot of tourists coming here to acclimatize. Just below Dingboche you reconnect again to the main trekking route, therefore also to the crowds. The following descent leads through a pretty boring narrow valley. Then follows the ascent to the ridge with the monastery Tenboche. It is quite often foggy here and rhododendron forest around. When there is by chance no fog, there is a nice view from here on Everest.
- Tengboche – Namche Bazar (3,5 hours): As first comes long descent winding through coniferous forest, 600 meters of altitude into the valley. A lot of tourists will ascend in the opposite direction – they walk only the basic route and this ascent is probably the biggest trek´s challenge for them. The bridge over wild river Dudh Khosi is at a height of 3,250 m asl. The continuation is then quite tedious. Before you is unexpectedly long ascent through the woods and around villages and then endless traverse through the valley. The way culminates at 3 650 meters, so „pleasant“ 400 vertical meters from the river. On the other hand, the views of the canyon towards Namche are very nice.
- Namche Bazar – Lukla: along the same path. There is no other possible alternative.
