Beach Plathiena is located on the west end of inhabited part of the island Milos. It is the ideal place for people preferring lonely beaches. There are really few tourists in spite of the fact that it is situated less than two kilometers as the crow flies from bustling Plaka. After all, most tourists are discouraged by the narrow road or visit rather better known cove Firopotamos.

Path in the farmland

The road to Plathiena, or rather to the bay Firopotamos descends from Plaka through picturesque farmland.

Plathiena

Plathiena is very picturesque bay with only 150 meters long sandy beach. It is also ideal for swimming with small children.

View of the beach

The northern part of the beach ends with private facility with adjoining farmland, so if you want to get to an outlook place, you have no other choice but to ascend to the cliff at the southern end. Anyway, this beach is really more for swimming than for hiking around.
