A small tasting of Kremnické vrchy
The hiking trail passes through the ridge of Kremnické vrchy. It starts in the popular tourist center Skalka near Kremnica. First we ascend to the Skalka lookout point, then we ascend the red sign over Bystrické and Králické sedlo to the peaks of Zlatá Studňa and Velestúr. From this peak we descend to the Three Crosses, where we leave the ridge and descend to Chata Hostinec. He then returns along the same route back to the Skalka resort. Views of Banská Bystrica, Poľana and the Low Tatras open up along the entire route.
Skalka viewpoint
The first interesting point of the entire tourist route is the Skalka viewpoint, which is located about 15 minutes from the parking lot. From the viewpoint you can see the Great Fatra, the Low Tatras, the town of Banská Bystrica, Králiky, but also the Spanish Valley.
Road to Bystrický sedlo
The route continues from the view of the red route to Bystrický sedlo, while it goes more or less on flat terrain. In addition to the classic tourist route, a large part of the route is also crossed by a cycle route. This is a very simple hike without large elevations.
Other perspectives and outlooks
If the route does not pass through the forest, it offers us nice views towards Banská Bystrica, the Great Fatra and the Low Tatras.
Royal saddle
After about an hour of walking, we reach Králický sedlo, where the red ridge is crossed by a green tourist route that leads from Králikov to Kremnica. In addition to the intersection of routes, there is also a nice gazebo for a short break.
Golden well
After about 40 minutes, we get from Králický sedlo to the highest point of our route, the peak of Zlatá studňa, in front of which the „most demanding“ part of the route awaits us with a short ascent to the top. At the top there is a small shelter and a fireplace, so it can also be used for emergency sleeping, as the shelter also has a door, but do not expect any comfort.
Velor
After about 15 minutes, the route reaches the second peak, the Velestúr hill, which does not provide any beautiful views, but is sought after as an important historical site.
Mysterious inscription
On the hill Velestúr there is a mysterious inscription, which according to some estimates is 2000 according to another 1700 years, which would mean that the Slavs had a script before the arrival of St. Cyril and Methodius. The inscription in Old Slavic emblems was translated by the Moravian historian Antonín Horák and reads as follows: „Silian coming from the north demolished Kremnica and Turiec and all the forts in the year two hundred and eighty after Turice.“
Three Crosses
The route we pass ends at the intersection of Tri Kríže, where there is a lookout with a description of the most interesting places, several crosses, but also a gazebo and a fireplace where you can relax. From this place, the route passes from the red tourist sign to the blue sign, which descends to the cottage Hostinec, which, however, is not open all year round and usually there is only a closed company. From this point, the route climbs again to the top of Velestúr along the yellow mark, from where it returns to Skalka along the red route.
