Cala en Turqueta is located in the southern part of the island. Together with Cala Macarella, this is Menorca's most famous and busiest beach. The beach is located in a small bay. The sand strip itself is only 100 meters long and divided into two parts by a smaller rock outcrop. The beach is typical for its white sand and beautifully blue water.

Road to the beach

There are different ways to get to the beach. Each of the beaches has its own parking lot. However, these parking lots have limited capacities and once they are full, it is no longer possible to drive here. It must be added that the parking lots at these famous beaches are usually full after nine o'clock in the morning. It is also possible to get here using special buses, but they are quite expensive. The last option is a ship. A large number of large and small boats, whether private or rented, are moored daily in every bay and on every beach. It is possible to get to Cala en Turqueta as part of one of the boat trips organized from the city of Cuitadella, which was also the way we visited here.

How's it going here?

Due to the popularity of the beach, it's really a bargain, especially after a cruise ship docks here. The turbidity of the water also corresponds to this workload. Cala en Turqueta is surrounded by pine forests. A short distance from the beach towards the parking lot there are toilets and a man with a wheelbarrow walking along the beach selling fruit. From the parking lot, or from the bus, it is less than a kilometer walk to the beach through beautiful nature.

Can't be missed

Despite the number of people and possible difficulties with accessibility, Cala en Turqueta is one of those „must see“ places in Menorca that is definitely worth a visit.
