Not only vineyards and rolling fields, but also steppe landscape can be found in the landscape between Brno and Břeclav. It can be found on the slopes of Uherčická nové hora (308 m above sea level), northeast of the village Pouzdřany.

Solitaire

From the Pouzdřany railway station, we first walk about half a kilometer on the road towards Popice. We clearly turn left upwards (point 48.9378403N, 16.6434142E). With increasing altitude meters, the surrounding landscape is revealed.

Pouzdřany

Pouzdřany can be seen from the top parts. The wine village had about 760 inhabitants in 2016 and on its southern edge is Sklepní street with the possibility of tasting wines from local winemakers.

Graft

From the lookout point (point 48.9427889N, 16.6424164E) the plateau Pouzdřanské stepi can be seen. On the website of the Agency for Nature and Landscape Protection of the Czech Republic I read that the vegetation here consists of “communities of narrow-leaved dry grasslands, broad-leaved dry grasslands and dry herbaceous communities, communities of high mesophilic and xerophilic shrubs and low xerophilic shrubs, communities of Pannonian oak groves and Pannonian thermophilic oak groves . ”I can't appreciate it as a layman, but I like it here.

Pavlovské vrchy

The fog slowly dissolves and the beneficial rays of the spring sun win. In the south, the Pavlovské vrchy hills begin to emerge with their dominants: Dívčí hrad (428 m above sea level) and Děvín peak (550 m above sea level).

Country

Moravian Tuscany is a rolling landscape of green and brown fields around Kyjov. However, this landscape character can also be found in other places in southern Moravia, among others under the slopes of Uherčická nové hora.

Messenger of spring

The reason why nature lovers visit here in the spring are also these messengers of spring, the distinctive yellow flowers of the spring head. By the way, the plant is poisonous, it contains cardioactive glycosides.

Ural Mother

Meloe Uralensis is one of our rarest invertebrates. It occurs on Pálava and right here on the Pouzdřanská steppe. We are lucky. But the beetle has no time or mood for us and runs to hide quickly.

Country

The neighboring village of Popice can be seen to the southeast. The silhouette of the church of another important wine-growing village, Zaječí, is visible on the horizon to the left of the Nové Mlýny water area.

Vineyard

Back to Pouzdřany we follow the blue tourist marked path. We walk through the vast vineyards of the Kolby winery, which got its name from the slope of the same name.
