The highest peak of Cerova Vrchovina
The hike to Karanč Hill is one of the easier ones, it is a simple ascent to the 725 m high highest peak of the Cer Highlands, where there is a nice lookout tower from which, if you are lucky, you can see from the Low Tatras to Budapest.
Guard building
The road starts from the village of Šiatorská Bukovinka, where it climbs along a crumbling asphalt road, which in the past served the army to protect the border, the whole route leads near or directly along the border between Slovakia and Hungary
Way
The road climbs mostly through the stands of cerium oak after which the local mountain range is also named, as well as the local Protected Landscape Area.

At the end of the road, walk around the spring with a place to rest.
Final climb
The only more difficult part of the whole ascent is the final climb directly to the top.
Lookout tower
At the top there is a lookout tower, while in its vicinity there are several fireplaces and gazebos, where it is possible to relax and recharge your batteries on the way back, which leads along the same route.
Tower views
Unfortunately, I don't have many high-quality photos of the view from the top of the tower, but with good visibility, they can be seen all the way to the High Tatras in the north and Budapest in the south.
