Ascent to Puig de Maria

The top of Puig de Maria with the Ermita Mare de Deu monastery is not to be missed from the town of Pollenca. We climb through narrow places by a very broken asphalt road, at first between houses, later we are absorbed by the forest. The peaks of the Serra de Tramuntana appear among the trees.

We continue our ascent with serpentines. Below us appears the city of Pollenca.

We are approaching the top, now on a narrow sidewalk. There are views of the interior of the island.

The city has an interesting center with a number of historic buildings, later, after descending from the top of Puig de Maria, we walk through narrow streets to the local important monument, the Roman Bridge.

The view of the peaks of the northern part of the Serra de Tramuntana is also an inspiration for further expeditions for hiking and exploration.

The Ermita Mare de Deu Monastery overlooks the entire northern part of the island. The port town of Port de Pollenca is the gateway to Cape Formentor.

The sharp peaks of the cape rise sharply from the sea level to a height of between 335 and 434 m

On the terrace of the monastery we enjoy the necessary cafe cortado and like in the palm of our hand is the north of the island of Mallorca.
