Vysoký vrch is a hill with an altitude of 486 m above sea level located in the Křivoklát Highlands. There are the remains of a fortified settlement from the Bronze Age with an area of about 1.5 ha and a square floor plan, the importance of which was probably mainly guard. Today we find a wooden lookout tower with a view of the surrounding area.

Proškův mlýn

We start the walk in a place called Poteplí. Here is Prošek's mill. The first written mention of the existence of the mill comes from 1432. Until 1786 it was a noble mill. It has been owned by Prošky since 1892. It ceased operations in 1946.

Chapel of St. Jan Nepomucký

We start the route along the stream, where we also pass the beautifully repaired chapel of St. Jan Nepomucký.

Hradiště

Very soon we turn into a stream up the hill, where we make our way to the fortified settlement. The high peak is relatively flat with steep accesses from all sides.

Vysoký vrch lookout tower

At the top we find a wooden lookout tower from 2007. The lookout tower does not look very stable and the ladder has already experienced a lot, but we still climb up.

View

From the viewing platform at a height of 5 meters above the terrain, you can see the Křivoklát and Rakovník hills, Brdy and České středohoří with good visibility.

Monument to Jan Palach

On Vysoký vrch there is also a monument to Jan Palach, which takes the form of a mound with a simple wooden cross and a photograph. The mound was founded on the day of JP's death on January 19, 1969.
