The castle was created by renaissance reconstruction of the original Gothic castle in the 16th century, which was carried out by the Habsburgs. In 1647, the chateau was donated to Merit by General Count Jan Špork. However, the greatest alterations followed under František Antonín Šporek during the 18th century. A number of domestic and foreign artists took part in the sculptural decoration of the entire complex, among them the sculptor M. Braun, the painter P. Brandl, etc. stood out. The interiors of the chateau are inaccessible because there is a home for the elderly.

Entrance to the castle

Lysá nad Labem is known mainly for its frequent exhibitions at the local exhibition center. However, few people stop at the chateau after visiting the exhibition, which is definitely worth seeing, despite the fact that you can only visit the chateau park.
