The area lies in the Dyjsko-svratecká floodplain, south of the village Vranovice, in the area between the rivers Svratka and Šatava. Šatava is a Moravian river that springs near Ivančice near the village of Hlína and then flows southeast. The nature reserve on the lower course of the Šatava hides a well-preserved complex of floodplain forest with an original wood composition, with a number of wetlands and ponds around a meandering river.

Wetland

The road from Vranovice to Iván takes us to the floodplain forest and right on its edge we discover a pretty large wetland. Not only here, the dry spring allows for trouble-free movement throughout the site, which is otherwise full of mosquitoes.

The Plaček Forest Forest nature reserve is located at an altitude of 170 m above sea level. The information sign indicates the occurrence of the following plant species: ash, summer oak, blackless, dogwood, dogwood, European nettle, nettle, small-flowered willow, white willow, brittle willow, sticky alder, sharp sedge, yellow iris, autumn perch, summer snowdrop, surrounding bumblebee, marsh beggar and white water lily. There is no marked path, but with a good map you can walk through the area safely.

Šatava

The road takes us back to the edge of the forest near the road between Ivani and Vranovice. We turn right and dive again into the depths of the floodplain forest. The most beautiful places are on the banks of the meandering river Šatava, which can only be reached by narrow, barely perceptible paths turning off the main road.

Svratka

We definitely leave the floodplain forest and proceed towards the village of Pouzdřany. The road leads through another stream, the river Svratka.

Pouzdřanský pond

We walk through the center of the village around the church and turn right to Pouzdřanský pond. Its edge is full of reeds and access to water is not easy.

Shops

Pouzdřany is a well-known wine village. Between the pond and the houses are local wine cellars. There you can be rewarded for the effort devoted to floodplain wandering.
