From Queenstown you can drive to Wanaka by two roads. If you like mountain roads, take the one that leads through Crown Saddle (1,076 m above sea level), which is the highest point of the road where you will find asphalt in New Zealand. In addition, it is possible to set off on an interesting ridge hike from the saddle. The Kawarau river valley is more than 700 meters below you.
