A short distance southwest of Prague, between the villages of Jíloviště and Trnová, on a steep rock above the Vltava, there are several romantic places with breathtaking views of the river and the Vranovská water reservoir. One of them was allegedly the inspiration for the song has become our national anthem.

Road from Jíloviště

The shortest way from Prague is along the green and then the blue tourist signs from Jíloviště. The road first descends sharply to a stream, which must be overcome somewhat steeply, and then climb to a steep hill. A more comfortable road leads from the village of Trnová.

Škroup's prospect

The view of the Vltava valley, the surrounding forests, meadows and fields inspired František Škroup to compose music for Fidlovačka. The composer František Šroup often visited this place during his stays with his brother Václav, who owned a local estate. At that time, however, there was a wild river and not a dam.

Prospect Trnová

About 400 meters upstream of the Vltava there is an even more breathtaking view of the rocky promontory. It has a great view of Měchenice and the railway bridge over the reservoir. This place is so popular that there is also a sitting area with a fireplace. From this viewpoint, a comfortable road leads to Trnová.
