Trip to the northwest of Lefkada

The road towards the northwest coast winds high in the hills. Behind the village of Kalamitsi at almost 400 meters above sea level, a beautiful view of the region opens up to the path that awaits us. Beneath the cliffs on the left is the famous Kathisma Beach, the first optional stop on this trip

From the vantage point, you can see through the green pine trees to the sea lying a few hundred meters below. Then there are a few bends and the last 6 kilometers to Agios Nikitas

We chose the resort of Agios Nikitas for a half-day stop with a cruise to the famous Milos beach, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful beaches on the island.

From Agios Nikitas we continue further north. The road leads along the coast to the turnoff to Pefkoulia beach. Then it climbs the cliff. There is also a beautiful view back to the beach

From the viewpoint it is about 10 kilometers before you reach the northwestern tip of the island – Agios Ioannis beach. Here you will be interested in windmills. It is an ideal place for windsurfers

The windmills are in a fairly desolate state, which is a shame, especially when it is such a symbol of Greece

After such a narrow scythe we arrive at the fortress of Santa Maura, which guarded the entrance to the island
