Trip to Gerakas beach

It is only 15 kilometers from the capital of the island of Zakynthos, but along a winding and narrow road. In addition, you will have to drive through the busy resort of Argassi, so expect almost half an hour drive. There is a large car park at the end of the road, and then you will have another 300 meters walk through the hot countryside before you reach the view of the entire Gerakas Bay.

Gerakas beach is the most disturbed just below the stairs leading to the beach. Here is an organized part of the beach. When you go a few tens of meters to one side or the other, people will gradually decrease a bit. Swimming is suitable for children, the sea is very shallow, practically without waves. A small cliff rises above its own sandy beach

The local beach is also popular among turtle turtles. Laying eggs are marked with wooden enclosures. It is not for nothing that Zakynthos is also called Turtle Island.

The cliff above the beach is densely covered with vegetation. There are only huge rock overhangs. For more interesting formations you have to go to the very end of the bay

Just in the very south of the bay is a multicolored cliff. In front of it, however, are signs forbidding entry closer due to frequent rock falls

In the places of clear „biting“ of the cliff is the narrowest place of the whole Vasilikos peninsula. Here it is even 30 meters wide

If you go north, this end of the beach is quite deserted

The northern end of the beach is pebble and there is no one at all.

And why go to the very end of the beach? There is a beautiful small rock town of bright white sandstone towers – it had Cappadocia on Zakynthos. Great place!
