Article Tour of Mdina

The town of Mdina, named after the Sicilian Arabs as early as 870, is undoubtedly worth a visit as a whole. However, we focused on the old part of it. The entrance to the old fortified town leads over a stone bridge to a massive gate, which opens the entrance as if to another world of the Middle Ages.

We had the opportunity to walk through the city at 7 o'clock in the morning, when it was just slowly waking up, so we could enjoy the authentic atmosphere of deserted stone streets, which led us to the center of the fortified town to a small square, where the church of St. Paul.

In the adjoining alley to the right of the church of St. St. Paul peeked at us. Roque's Chapel also known as Our Lady of Light. In its corner, a statue of the saint himself to whom this Christian church is dedicated looks down on passers-by.

The soft morning light and the fresh fresh air flowing through the tangled stone winding streets, as designed by architects for centuries, and in this unchanged form are used by locals and curious eyes of tourists.

Walking through the old town, you don't know where to look first and whether to stop and admire the architecture of the churches or get carried away by the winding streets and discover what you will find behind the next bend. Every house that fits into the whole concept exactly like a puzzle in a big jigsaw puzzle is unique and the places are based on their decoration.
