Gallery of miniatures of wooden churches
In the park in the center of the village there is a gallery of miniatures of both preserved and extinct wooden churches in the area of the Poloniny National Park. The miniatures were made in a 1:10 reduction in a local sheltered workshop.
Village Ulič
The village of Ulič lies only two kilometers from the state border with Ukraine in a valley at the confluence of Ulička and Zbojský streams in the Poloniny National Park. It is the largest municipality in the area, and therefore schools, hospitality, healthcare and other services are concentrated in it. Unfortunately, there is a significant lack of suitable accommodation capacity in the whole area.
Gallery of miniatures of wooden churches
In the park in the center of the village there is a gallery of miniatures of both preserved and extinct wooden churches in the area of the Poloniny National Park. The miniatures were made in a 1:10 reduction in a local sheltered workshop. This exhibition introduces the architecture, history and present of wooden churches – temples of the Eastern Rite, which are among the most valuable monuments in the region. These wooden sacral buildings represent the pinnacle of the skills of the ancestors of the locals and symbolize the way of their lives and beliefs. Churches called local „churches“ were built in the 18th century.
Wooden churches in the Polonin area
To this day, churches in the villages of Uličské Krivé, Topola, Jalová, Ruský Potok, Kalná Roztoka, Hrabová Roztoka and Šmigovec have been preserved in the area. All are registered on the list of national cultural monuments of Slovakia.
