This inconspicuous park near the town of St. George is the gateway to the pearls of Utah. Snow Canyon has been inhabited since 200 AD and later by the Paiute Indians in the 13th century until the middle of the 19th century. The park was later discovered by Mormon pioneers in the 1950s. The park has become much sought after by filmmakers, but also offers camping and hiking trips.

The park has become much sought after by filmmakers, but also offers camping and hiking trips. I led us to the end of the day. For us, it was the first reunion with these rocks. We experienced an incredible sunset here, when the sky flushed for a few minutes that I felt like I was on Mars. In addition to the rocks, you can also see numerous remnants of lava. There are several hiking trails. The longest is 11 km. I can recommend stopping here.

Lava wherever you look

There are large remnants of lava in the Snow Canyon. The rock is so hard that no one can peel off like a souvenir.
