Klínovec (German Keilberg) is at an altitude of 1244 meters above sea level [the highest peak of the Ore Mountains.Due to its location (near Karlovy Vary and close to the border with Germany) and accessibility (the road leads to the top), this peak is a popular destination for tourists, skiers and cyclists.

Petzold's plane tree

At the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. the first accommodation facility was built on top, to which an exhibition hall was subsequently added. After a fire in 1929, the hotel acquired its current appearance. The hotel gradually changed owners and was abandoned in the 1990s. The hotel has now been closed and dilapidated for some time. It's a pity, because there is a lack of accommodation capacity near the top and the interior of the hotel is really worth a visit. Visitors are especially attracted by the hotel hall with a unique coffered ceiling, where the emblems of all municipalities and towns below Klínovec are depicted. The current owner is the town of Boží Dar, which is looking for a tenant who would reconstruct the hotel.

Television transmitter

At the top of Klínovec rises a concrete tower of a television transmitter, which measures 56 meters and since 1973, together with the structurally identical transmitter Zelená hora, has been covering the Karlovy Vary region and part of the Ústí nad Labem region with a television and radio signal.

Lookout tower

The 24-meter-high stone lookout tower was opened on 3 August 1884 and was newly repaired in 2013 and is now open to the public again. But it is necessary to climb the 75 steep stairs of a fairly narrow staircase. Together with the adjacent hotel, it is the highest building in the Ore Mountains.

View from the lookout tower

In good weather, the lookout tower offers a wonderful view of the Ore Mountains, the Bohemian Central Mountains, the Doupovské Mountains, the Slavkov Forest and sometimes even the Šumava Mountains.

Skiing area

The ski resort in Klínovec offers ideal conditions for skiing and is one of the best rated ski resorts in the Czech Republic. Due to its location, it is also frequently visited by skiers from Germany. Since 2005, it has been rated by the rating agency for Czech winter resorts with the highest mark of 5 *. There are four four-seater cable cars (the longest 2168 m) and several ski lifts. In winter, the lifts transport skiers and in summer, the longest lifts from Jáchymov allow boarding. Thanks to this, cyclists can easily climb the bike paths leading from the top of Klínovec or enjoy the local Trail Park, offering 30 km of trails of four difficulties from the lightest to the most demanding.
