Island of Gozo and interesting places

Famous beach with golden sand for sunbathing and the sea with a gradual entry into the water, it is the beach Remla. The white sand all over the bay makes all the shades of the azure sea stand out. It is located in the northeast of the island. At the beach there is also the possibility of refreshments in a small restaurant.

Other attractions on the island are not far from the beach. The Calypso Cave rises directly above the beach. Above the cave itself is a viewpoint that allows you to see the beach Remla and the whole Remla bay from a bird's eye view. Unfortunately, the cave on which there is a lookout begins to fall apart, so the entrance to the very end of the lookout is closed. Just as good a view, but it will provide a cliff next to the viewpoint.

The island of Gozo, like Malta itself, has several locations where sea salt is still mined in the traditional way, using basins carved into the cliffs and seawater evaporating from them. You can find this unique in the north of the island, for example, and a sufficiently wide area on the cliff will allow you to walk along its entire length and enjoy the view of the sea towards Sicily, 90 km away.

A short way along the cliffs further west you will find a large sea cave with a possible descent up the stairs to the lower floor, so that you can better peek inside. This is ideal for diving or snorkelling. But even from this land, the clear water allows you to observe the rich marine life down there below you.

Probably the most famous attraction on Gozo is the Blue Hole and the Blue Eye in the west of the island. Although the eye-shaped rock mass crashed into the sea during a storm last year, many people still pull this place. But we wanted to avoid the tourist onslaught and so we drove to the inconspicuous beach Xlendi. The original plan was to take a bath here, but because the bay is more of a port nature, we soon abandoned this idea. But there was a much better alternative in a similarly small kayak rental right on the beach. Because we wanted to try this activity for some time, but it was not a good opportunity yet, we did not hesitate and rented two kayaks for one person. The location is perfect for kayaking, because there are caves on both sides of the bay, where you can enter and also one stone gate. Her passage was probably the best experience of her entire stay in Gozo. The white sand at the bottom below the rock gate and the sun shining on the other side created an amazing effect, as if you were floating in azure crystal water, which is illuminated from below and blue light is swirling all around you. An incredible experience. Too bad we didn't have anything waterproof to document. I definitely recommend this experience. In the end, we spent almost 2 hours on the ride.
