Going to the Sun Road is a scenic mountain road in the Rocky Mountains of the western United States, in Montana's Glacier National Park. The Solar Road is the only road that passes through the park, through Logan Pass at an altitude of 2,026 m, which is the highest point of the road. Construction began in 1921 and was completed in 1932. It is as well known in the United States as Route 66

The road is only open for a few months. Most often from June to October before the snow comes. Often the road here falls with snow up to a height of 20 meters.

Historic buses

These historic buses run on this road. The guards don't just let anyone on the road. The car must not be longer than 6.4 m and wider than 2.43 m, otherwise it will not let you on the Road to the Sun at all. The road is really narrow.

Going To The Sun Road

Legendary mountain road in the Rocky Mountains

After traveling the West in the USA, I found myself in Montana in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, where the Glacier National Park is located at the Canadian border with its legend and the historic road Going To The Sun Road. It's the only road that can take me across this pass. Construction began in 1921 and was inaugurated in 1932, and these historic buses still run along it. The road is as famous and well-known as Route 66. It is open at the beginning of June at the earliest and closes during October. I was here just before I closed. Snow was already appearing on the tops. The road at Logan Pass over the winter with snow up to a height of 24 meters. That's why it's very difficult to get through something like that. The road starts at Lake McDonald's. There are many shops, so do not hesitate and buy and then go to the mountains. I stopped in the parking lot and headed for Avalanche Lake. It's about an hour from here. Although still uphill, but it will be left. Along the way, small waterfalls await me and then a beautiful and clean lake appears. I returned and as we drove, I couldn't wait long and the views of the mountains opened up to me. What I saw can't be captured by any camera. It's about a half-hour drive that I enjoyed every mile. Then I got to Logan Pass. Hard to park here – small parking lot. I'm going to see Hidden Lake. How else but by going uphill, but looking back at the pass is an extraordinary reward. I'm getting to Lake Hidden. I'm not going down to him anymore, because I'm still crossing. Glacier National Park is one of the most beautiful places I have seen here. Its big plus is that there is not a lot of attendance.
