A typical peaceful town with a large Greek minority
The town of Dipkarpaz (Greek Rizokaprpaso) is the northernmost town in Cyprus and the gateway to the Karpaz National Park. Both Greek and Turkish Cypriots live here, devoting themselves to peaceful rural life, far from the influence of tourism.
Church of St. Synesiosis and the mosque
It is interesting that a church has been preserved in the center of the town, which, however, looks out on a brand new mosque from a nearby hill. Fortunately, the church, like most other churches in the north, was not devastated, but remained in working order.
Local residents
Life in the town flows at its calm pace and the inhabitants live mainly on traditional agriculture. It is also the last shopping opportunity before entering the local Karpaz National Park. Interestingly, the largest Greek Cypriot community in the North lives here. It so happened that during the Turkish invasion in 1974 they remained cut off here, without the possibility of retreating to the south.
