Attractive top
Sitno – the dominant feature of the Štiavnica Hills, from which it is possible to see all the way to the Austrian Alps, the Low Tatras or the Hungarian Matra with good visibility. The ascent to Sitno is an undemanding hiking with a small elevation gain, which can be managed within 2 hours. In addition to the beautiful view, you can also see the ruins of the castle, which was the main anti-Greek fortress protecting the mining towns. According to legend, the Knights of Sitnian are cursed under Sitno, who are waiting for them when they are needed, and then they run out and save Slovakia.

The route starts and ends at Počúvadlianský lake.
Exit
From Počúvadlianske Lake we climb about an hour along the green mark to Tatárska lúka.
Tartar meadow
From Tatárská lúka, we continue along the blue mark to the top of Sitna, which is now showing us for the first time.
The last climb
Below the top there are stairs, which we climb under the rock to the top.
Banská Štiavnica
From the top, we have the dominant feature of the surroundings in the palm of our hand, one of the most beautiful historical places inscribed on the UNESCO list of Banská Štiavnica, which is definitely worth a visit.
Lookout tower
At the top there is a lookout tower, which is only accessible during the summer months. Next to the lookout tower, there is also a restaurant, which looks closed, but the opposite is true.
Descent
From the top we descend along the blue sign, which goes all the way to the Vlčia jama crossroads along the asphalt road, which is a popular route for cyclists, so I especially recommend increasing your vigilance, especially in the autumn and winter.
Sitno
During the descent along the blue mark, it is possible to turn off the route and see the last preserved ruins of Sitnian Castle, which formed the basic point of anti-Turkish defense for mining towns. The castle „survived“ this period in its entirety and only during the uprising of František Rákoczi II. the castle was destroyed. The destruction of the castle was completed during the construction of the manor house in Svätý Anton and the construction of the lookout tower on the top, where the material from the castle was mostly used.
Rúbaniská
From the Vlča jama crossroads, we continue along the yellow route towards Počúvadlianský Lake and even though we are in the Štiavnické vrchy Protected Landscape Area with an increased degree of protection, we pass through several log cabins, which open up views to the south.
Fairytale tunnel
At the end of the road, however, we still enjoy the crossing of the forest path that leads next to the former canal.
